Learning Outcomes
With the completion of the course and the success in the exams, the students will have acquired sufficient knowledge about the labor movement in our country, both in the trade union form or its political aspect. They will be able to place it in the broader context of the social struggles of the modern age and to evaluate the ideological, political and historical roots of the current institutions, forms of the movement.
Course Content (Syllabus)
The course presents and analyzes at the political, social and institutional level the movements, the political spaces, the institutions, the expressions that emanate from the social conflicts of the modern era and more specifically from the struggles of the working class. These spaces and movements have sealed the recent social and political history and are still key components of the political scene in most countries. Labor parties, trade unions, unions are today key institutions of the political and social scene.
The understanding of the importance and function of these spaces and movements is examined starting from their historical background and their historical course. Through them, their current position is determined as well as the problems they face. The central role of these spaces and movements in shaping modern politics is also noted.
