Learning Outcomes
The basic objective of the lectures is for the undergraduates to gain adequate knowledge of the italian literature of the 18th and 19th century and to develop judgmental capabilities of understanding a text as well as the historical-literary output of the period, the ideological, literary and cultural frame that they belong to.

Course Content (Syllabus)
Study of the 18th and 19th century literature (history-text). A special emphasis is given to the periods of Arcadism and Illuminism, poetical period of neoclassicism, period of pre romanticism, classicism, to the movements of romanticism and Verismo. Texts of noted anthological creators such as Goldoni, Parini, Alfieri, Foscolo, Manzoni, Leopardi, Verga, Carducci etc are being studied.
