Upon successful completion of this course the student is able to:
-classify host countries of international investment in economic, cultural and institutional scale
-form a clear framework of factors that will determine the choice of country and form of international expansion
-propose economic and institutional change that improve international business attractiveness
Course Content (Syllabus)
The course aims to introduce students to the theoretical discussion that lies behind the international business, and provide him with a rich typology of factors, economic, cultural and institutional, that determine the extent and the form of Foreign Direct Investment
The course covers the following subjects: International business- Stages of international business activity- Exports-production agreements-licensing-franchising- foreign direct investment - forms of international expansion, Economic determinants of FDI, the theory of internalization – Cultural determinants of FDI, Hofstede’s typology - Institutional determinants, World Bank’s Global Governance typology, Effects of FDI on host and home country
