students must have a good background in introductory economics and quantitative methods
Learning Outcomes
the course aims to expose students to alternative economic theories (Marx, Keynes, Sraffa) which deal with economic issues related to capitalist mode of production in alltogether different way from that students are exposed in the undergraduate cources.

Unit 1. Labor theory of value Unit 2. The concept of free competition, Sraffa's critique to perfect competition Unit 3. Economic Development: theories of unequal exchange, transfer of values Unit 4. Kontratief cycles (long waves). The law of falling profitability Unit 5. International trade, economic convergence, etc
