Course Content (Syllabus)
The course presents basic elements of the Science of Education. The following topics are examined: - The scientific nature of Pedagogy. - Its scientific object and its relationship to both the educational sciences and the humanities. -The methodology and methodological challenges of pedagogical empirical research. Additionally, it provides a historical overview of the Education phenomenon, as developed among the peoples and religions, in philosophical tendencies and ideals, which, in certain cases, extend to present day. The course also offers fundamental principles of the science of Education: - Potential and necessity. - Main terms. - The pair "student - teacher" - Goals of Education, Teaching and Pedagogy. - Learning contents, methods and media. - Important pedagogical institutions. - Contemporary pedagogical issues. - Special Education. - Lifelong education and learning.

Students are questioned in writting and orally on issues discussed in class. Assessment is based upon whether students state clear answers and develop personal critical attitude towards course thematic.
