Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able: 1) To record and evaluate the functions and values of protected areas and biodiversity, and the factors affecting them. 2) To have the scientific basis for the management and protection of protected areas and biodiversity of terrestrial ecosystems. 3) To analyze and evaluate the landscape and diagnose existing problems. 4) To have the background and skills necessary for environmental impact studies and rehabilitation of the environment. 5) To have the necessary skills for planning and restore disturbed lands.

Course Content (Syllabus)
General, definitions, current research trends. Natural areas under protection, types. Fauna and flora species under protection. Nature conservation in Greece. Natural site analysis. Treatment, management of natural sites. Landscaping of artificial sites. Human activities and landscape. Analysis of effects and influences on the landscape. Landscape restoration.
