Learning Outcomes
With the end of the course the students will be able to know:
1) The infrastructure improvements (road networking, watering points, shelters, fences, etc) that contribute to the sustainable management of rangelands and the protection of natural environment
2) The means that can be used to achieve the uniform distribution of grazing and the proper utilization of forage resources
Course Content (Syllabus)
a)Contribution of infrastructure (roads, paths, fencing, watering points, shelters, stables etc.) in the rational management of rangelands. Means for the uniform distribution of grazing. Livestock farms-Meaning-Benefits.
b)Design of rangeland networking. Types, locations and functionality of shelters, stables and dwelling facilities for the staff. Types and position of fences. Types and spatial distribution design to collect water and watering points for the grazing animals.
c) Design and construction of rangeland engineering infrastructure.
d) Organization of technical interventions and maintenance of ecological balance of rangeland ecosystems and assessment of environmental impacts from the construction of engineering works.
