Course Content (Syllabus)
The subject of the course includes the study of the specific provisions of the substantial and procedural criminal law as well as the correctional law for juveniles. Furthermore, the extent, structure and development of the juvenile delinquency and juvenile criminality are examined, while a comparative analysis of the legal context is undertaken. Finally, based on international (empirical) criminological research findings, the formulation of reform proposals for the treatment of juvenile offenders and juvenile victims is a matter of discussion.
The age of criminal responsibility for juveniles, the best interests of the child, the principle of the promotion of the well-being of the juvenile, the educational principle, the principle of proportionality, the minimum intervention principle, the principle of social reintegration, diversion, youth court, youth probation service, deprivation of liberty as a measure of last resort und for the shortest appropriate period of time, educational measures, therapeutic measures, community sanctions and measures, detention in an a young offender's institution, the right to appeal, criminal record, , ,
