Course Content (Syllabus)
Special characteristics and sources of maritime Law. The term “Ship” from a legal perspective, legal nature and nationality of ship. Floating vessels. Methods of acquisition of ship’s ownership (e.g. shipbuilding, acquisition by contract). Persons running maritime enterprises (owner of the ship, ship-operator). Running maritime enterprises collectively. Maritime labour contracts (ship’s master - crew). Pilot and ship’s agent. Legal status of affreightment contract. Special types of this contract.
