Prerequisites
General Prerequisites
The course has no formal prerequisites. In order for the participants to be able to understand better certain issues concerning the liberal guarantees of criminal law enshrined in the Constitution, it is recommended that they have knowledge of the basic concepts of fundamental rights.
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the course the students will be able to -have a general knowledge of the of greek criminal law compared to other fields of law -understand the meaning und the practical effects of the fundamental liberal guaranties enshrined in the Constitution with regard to the adoption and implementatOF greek criminal law rules and the relevant European Conventions on fundamental rights -understand the basic concepts and the key doctrinal strucktures related to the notion of the crime -solve practical issues dealt with by the courts, adapted to the difficulty level of the course

Course Content (Syllabus)
Basic notions and doctrinal structures of greeek criminal law: Act / Omission, causality, unlawfulness, grounds of justification, culpability (intention - negligence, mistake of law, grounds of excuse). Types of crimes and other distinctions. Place and time of the commission of a crime. Attempt. Participation. Basic Issues on European Convention on human rights. The general principles of criminal law under the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court.

Description
-Final written examination (almost 60 percent of the final grade).The students will be required to take a two-hour in-class exam that will count about almost 60 percent of the final grade. -Class attendance and class participation: They are very important to the comprehension of the course material (20 percent of the final grade) -Preparation of short papers (up to 5 p.) which focus on basic issues in criminal law (20 percent of the final grade)
