Course Content (Syllabus)
A primary parameter which stands out in New Archaeology since the 1970's onwards is the adoption of the methodological tools of applied sciences in archaeological analyses regarding the environment and space, the archaeological contexts and finds. This seminar will discuss issues which refer to the contribution of the archaeological sciences in various aspects of the organization and management of the Aegean prehistoric societies such as the petrographic and chemical analyses of material items, the stable isotope and ancient DNA analyses of organic materials, the digital and 3D reconstruction of space and finds, the magnetic and geophysical exploration as well as the micromorphology of sediments. The ultimate aim of the seminar will be the investigation of the application of analytical methods and scientific methodology in the interpretation of archaeological questions.

Student Assessment
Students will have to study and present weekly selected articles from the Greek or foreign literature in order to develop in a critical way their arguments and get involved in a thorough discussion. In addition, students will have to prepare the oral presentation of a topic which will be selected from a proposed list and will be submitted in written form by the end of the semester.
