Prerequisited work on patristic texts. The work includes indexing of the text, highlighting and theological analysis of the major points of this text.
Learning Outcomes
The aim of this course is that students should be able to recognize and specifically address theological issues that raised in the patristic literature. In addition, to be able to understand more deeply the patristic theology in order to respond to the task.

Course Content (Syllabus)
Presentation of particular issues of ecclesiastical literature and patristic theology of 3rd and 4th centuries, as encountered in the periods under review. They are explained and analyzed main theological issues that recorded in the patristic literature, and are presented positions of the Fathers always in relation to the emerging issues. 1. Time and Creation in the christian literature of the first four centuries. 2. Spiritual life and perfection according to the Patristic and ascetic literature of the first centuries. 3. Disease, Pain and Death according to the patristic and ascetic literature of the 3rd and 4rth century. 4. Christianity and Judaism in the first four centuries. 5. Christianity and Hellenism in the first four centuries. 6. Origen: Theology and Spiritual exegesis: The new findings. 7. Eusebius of Caesaria and his Library. 8. The contribution of St Basil the Great in the theological issues of the Fourth century. 9. Cyril of Jerusalem as a catechist of the Church. 10. The contribution of St Gregory the Theologian in the theology of the Chrurch. 11. The antihaeretic work of St Epiphanius of Cyprus. 12. Ascetic literature I. St Pachomius, St Anthony the Great. 13. Ascetic literature II. St Ephraim the Syrian, Evagrius of Pontus, Macarian Writings.
