1. The Images in the Christian Church. 2. Older iconoclastic Ideas. 3. The historical Context. 4. The Causes of Iconoclasm. 5. The Byzantine Emperor as a regulator of ecclesiastical Matters. 6. Motives and explosion of Iconoclasm. 7. The first Period. 8. Constantine V. 9. The Synod of Hiereia (754). 10. Persecutions. 11. The 7th Ecumenical Council (787). 12. The second Period (813-843). 13. The Valuation of the Phenomenon.
