Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course students will be able to conduct independent research: 1. on the historical and theological texts of the first century AD, and to participate in review issue, 2. to search the conciliar texts of the Church's life in an original scientific way 3. to interpret the dialogue of the Orthodox Church with the philosophy and the social environment in which stood ecclesiastical institutions, 4. to have theological arguments in inter-Christian and inter-religious dialogue, 5.to compose the tradition of the Orthodox Church with the data of the modern world.

Course Content (Syllabus)
Systematic interpretation of dogmatic and symbolic texts of the Orthodox Church of the 1st and 2nd Ecumenical Councils.Joint examination of texts, hagiographical and fathers as sources of the Creed. Investigation of historical and cultural environment in which emerged the first church communities: the role of Ioudaism and Hellenism in the life of the early Church. The role of the emperors and the imperial cult in the formation of the Christian state. The beginnings of the Church as adorable community. The beginnings of the inter-religious dialogue. Topics of research: 1-2. Historical context of the early Church, 3-4. The Roman state and the operation of the city, 5. Imperial cult, 6. Synagogue and Judaism 7. Beginnings of church worship, 8. Sources of the Creed, 9. Sects 10-12. Baptismal forms in patristic texts, 13. Development of the literature in the original investigation of the Creed.
