Course Content (Syllabus)
he course focuses on the successive refugee waves in the Balkans during the period of nation-state building in the 19th and 20th centuries. It examines the causes that led to the emergence of the refugee issue and the impacts (political, social, economic, and cultural) it had on Balkan societies. Finally, it explores and highlights the mechanisms of constructing and reproducing the memory of refugees.
