Learning Outcomes
The course objectives are:
(A) to enable students to complete the knowledge of Latin having been acquires in High School
(B) to use the tools (Dictionaries and Grammars) that are necessary for working on Latin language and texts
(C) to reach a desired level of familiarity with Latin language, in order to gain confidence and relative ease in reading texts and to create the background that will help them fotr the next Latin courses of their program of studies
(D) to get accustomed with basic aspects of the Roman world.
Course Content (Syllabus)
The course focuses on the teaching of Latin grammar, syntax and vocabulary. The emphasis is especially on those aspects of Latin language that had not been taught in the High School as also on the reading of texts (chosen by each instructor), so that the students improve their ability of understanding Latin texts.
During this course the students are also introduced into Roman civilization, history, society and literature and acquire basic knowledge on these fields.
