Learning Outcomes
The course objectives are:
1) to enable students to earn a solid base about Latin grammar
2) to acquire Latin vocabulary, in order to compose understandable Latin texts, and, vice versa, to are able to understand original Latin texts of different linguistic levels,
3) to develop a critical thought about the various problems of Latin language,
4) to cultivate a fine implicit knowledge of their mother-tongue thanks to the linguistic treatment of Latin texts and to practice in translation at higher levels.

Course Content (Syllabus)
Students should deepen their understanding of Latin Grammar and Syntax using their already earned knowledge in this area thanks to former stages of the curriculum. In respect to the first part of the lesson (linguistic and elementary interpretative treatment of a Latin text) students have to understand and translate into Greek in principle original Latin texts of middle or high linguistic difficulty from the whole field of Latin prose. In the frame of the second part of the lesson, (translation in Latin of Greek sentences or of a Greek text of 8 to 10 lines) students have to compose themselves sentences or a text in Latin on the basis of respective sentences or a text in Greek. The training material comes from works of Cicero and Caesar.
