Learning Outcomes
Upon completetion of the course students will be able to understand the characteristics of Modern Greek Folk Songs, to put them within the cultural and social questions of their era, and to comment on the verse, poetics and literary value of a given MGFS.

Course Content (Syllabus)
The course examines Μodern Greek Folk Songs, mainly as literary texts (their species, their metrics and rhetoric, and their formulaic style), but efforts are made to present also their musical aspect as well as their impact on drama and visual arts.
