Course Content (Syllabus)
Introduction to Surveying and Geodesy. Instruments and measurement methods (angles, distances, heights). Developments in instruments technology and measurements. GPS. Topographical space and its representation. Point determination. Rectangular and polar coordinates. Fundamental surveying problems. Traverse. Area calculation. Topographical maps and diagrams. Map scale and accuracy. Coordinate systems. Geodetic and geographic coordinates. Datum. Ellipsoid. Geoid. Projections. Representations and projection systems in Greece. Map use.
