Course Content (Syllabus)
History of Thematic Cartography. The Thematic Cartography today. Thematic phenomena and classification. Editing of thematic information. Graphic and cartographic Rules of thematic information. Graphs and diagrams. Symbolization of qualitative and quantitative data. Mapping of points, lines, surfaces and volumetric data using thematic maps. Isarithmic and choropleth maps. Maps dots. Topological transformations and cartograms. Combination and correlation of thematic information. Special categories of thematic maps, maps composition, thematic maps of several variables, planning maps, country planning maps, maps of programmatic interventions etc. Thematic Cartography and Geographic Information Systems. Rules of cartographic composition. Graphic design and color to Thematic Cartography. Construction of thematic maps, visual hierarchy, composition, visual reading. Cartography and multimedia. Cartography and internet. Contemporary Geographical Atlases. Cartography of "tomorrow." Visualization of geographic information.
