Learning Outcomes
The acquisition of theoretical and practical knowledge in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) with emphasis on the requirements of Planning. Familiarity use e-learning system BlackBoard. Familiarity with bibliographic research, literature and foreign language terminology. Acquiring practical knowledge of software GIS. Capacity self-study-research. Assimilation of theoretical and practical knowledge of GIS in areas that emphasize the requirements of Spatial Planning and Development.

Course Content (Syllabus)
Introduction to basic concepts of GIS. GIS Historical development. GIS Basic procedures and components. Data collection. Spatial phenomena, properties, methodologies and technical performance of spatial phenomena. Spatial relationships (topology, Geometric Characteristics of Phenomena, Properties). Forms of spatial phenomena (Vector, Mosaic). Methods of descriptive data. Digital Elevation Models. Three-dimensional terrain model creation. Networks analysis. The use of GIS in relatives sciences with particular reference to the spatial development, spatial and urban planning. GIS organization and selection methods. GIS practical application in Department disciplines.

Description
The teaching of the theory is carried out in the halls of the Department, utilizing electronic teaching / presentation. The laboratory exercises conducted in the islets of Computer Department, utilizing both GIS software, and electronic teaching / presentation. Detailed information and data provided in the course blackboard. It is also a communication tool with students (announcements, etc.).

Description
The examination is initially in the classroom (theory) and then in the laboratories of the Department (lab exercises), after the completion of 13 weeks of instruction. The examination is performed in Theory and laboratory exercises. Specifically, in the laboratories of the Department, students are asked to solve exercises, which are similar to the exercises taught during the semester. The theory exam is 60%, and the examination in the laboratory for 40% of the final grade.
