Learning Outcomes
The rational urban transport planning should be guided by the structure of urban space. The course aims at understanding the interactions between land use and transport systems. It also seeks to familiarize students with the concepts, standards and measures relating to sustainable urban mobility and accessibility, and to traffic management. The emphasis is given on international and european good practices to create accessible and attractive cities.

Course Content (Syllabus)
The course focuses on providing the necessary knowledge on integrated planning, design and implementation of measures concerning a) the management of urban transport systems in the direction of optimal and efficient operation, b) the demand management to limit use of private car, c) the development of modern public transportation for the city of tomorrow.

Teaching with electronic viewing slides. Geographic Information Systems. Computer aid design softwares for spatial representation. Internet use for literature research. Email, ftp server and dropbox for communicating with students.

Student Assessment
Description
Regular attendance and active, informed participation in class discussion and activities is necessary. The grade will be based upon a final examination, a project report and a class presentation. The various components are weighted as follows. Examination: 60%, Projects: 40%.
