Learning Outcomes
Students’ familiarization with the object and the fields of sociology of space. The recruitment of basic conceptual tools of this modern science of early 20th century, as founded by the Chicago School with all his versions, compositions and revisions consist as a tool for understanding and analyzing the interaction between space and social groups. The composition of these theories with the views of classics (Marx, Weber, Durkheim, Simmel) as well as with views of younger worldwide known analysts as H. Lefebvre and M. Castells, are necessary theoretical tools for futures planning and development scientists both of urban and rural space.

Course Content (Syllabus)
The course consists of both theoretical and empirical part. The theoretical part includes extensive discussion of classic and contemporary sociological theories of space and in particular the urban phenomenon. The empirical part of the course (Laboratory) entitled "Examples of build spaces: Socio-spatial effects, criticism and proposal" includes coursework in collaboration with professor in a Subject relating to the analysis of a specific and preferably integrated spatial intervention either in urban or in rural area. More Specifically is requested a descriptive approach of purely spatial characteristics of the project (diagrams, urban plans, floor plans, etc.) and the presentation of building phases evolution. Then with the interpretative approach is requested the logics of production of these build spaces, the logics of appropriation by both individuals and social groups as well as the social, economic and cultural impacts of the projects.

Examine (30%), tests (20%) and prepared writing work paper (50%) optional. Without writing work finale examine 80%.
