Learning Outcomes
The aim is to provide the fundamental principles of agricultural economics as the basis of the rural territory development. The principal dimensions of the primary production systems as well as processing and services in agricultural sector are also examined under the Common Agricultural Policy Framework as well as the EU Rural Development Policy.

Course Content (Syllabus)
Three main areas are discussed: A. Agricultural Economics Economic theory of production and supply of agricultural products. Means and technology of production. Marketing of agricultural products. Agricultural sector under the european and international framework. B. Rural Sociology Rural development and transformation of the rural territory. Social structure, institutions, organizations and governance. The role of information and innovation in rural development. Farming and the environment. C. Agricultural Policy Rural development policy framework and history. Two pillars of CAP. Territorial dimension of rural development policy. Rural – urban functional relationship.
