Learning Outcomes
The aim of this course is to offer to students the necessary knowledge elements as regards the use of information systems in medicine and healthcare delivery, that may be useful in practice.
The course emphasises on telemedicine, electronic health records, medical decision making, and healthcare services at different levels.
Finally, special directions of interest in Medical Informatics Research are presented.
At the end of the course, students will be able to:
• Understand the basic concepts related to the modern healthcare system structure and function
• Understand the necessary concepts of health telematics
• Describe the logic of medical procedures implemented in modern medical information systems
• Realise the importance of electronic health record and the issues that raise around its implementation and use
• Realise the important of medical information management via telematics and decision support methods and systems
• Make use of new technologies in their education
• Understand the content and importance of medical informatics research
