Take a complete history from the surgical patient
Perform a complete exam of the surgical patient
Evaluate the preoperative findings that led to the decision for surgery
Manage the basic postoperative care of the patient, with emphasis on water and electrolyte imbalances
Obtain the necessary foundation to continue learning about the main surgical illnesses and simple surgical procedures in the next semester
Course Content (Syllabus)
The goal of the course is to provide students with basic surgical knowledge, in addition to teaching the approach to the surgical patient regarding the history and physical exam, preoperative preparation and management, as well as postoperative care, including nutrition and water and electrolyte imbalances of the surgical patients
