THE PURPOSE OF THE COURSE The purpose of this course is to provide students of medicine the knowledge of the role of nutrition in the use of medical science, medical research, health promotion and disease INTENDED RESULTS • To explain the role of nutrition in prevention, provocation, prognosis and treatment of diseases • To explain the role of nutrition in health improvement during the whole cycle of life. • To enable students to get and comprehend a complete diet history from the patient • To explain the differences and restrictions of a full, restricted or differentiated diet regime • To enable students to discuss common nutritional issues with their patients Means of teaching • Lectures, conversation • Clinical cases • Guided self-teaching • Presentations of short projects by the students Assessment • Students assessment: Through the projects, or written or oral exams • Assement by the students: Electronically, anonymously through a detailed questionnaire, regarding the course, the lecturers, etc.
