Learning Outcomes
The learning goals of the course include students' understanding of mechanics of materials basics. A short review of statics and strength of materials is made and special care is given on continuum mechanics. During this course the students are exposed to the basic topics of mechanics of materials.

Course Content (Syllabus)
Concepts from Statics, Strength of Materials and internal (section) forces. Applications to structural members. Concise overview of matrices, vectors and tensors. Kinematics of material points and bodies. Geometry of deformation. Strain tensor and stress tensor. Conservation of mass, linear momentum, angular momentum and energy. Constitutive equations in 1D and 3D. Introduction to Elasticity and Fluid Mechanics.
