Learning Outcomes
The objectives of the course are: to introduce the sport of rhytmic gymnastics to the students, learn the basic movements of ballet and floor exercises, and learn the basic movements using rhythmic gymnastics apparatus: ball, rope, clubs, ribbon, hoop. In addition, the student will be introduced to the basics of choreography and movements, essential for teaching in the primary and secondary education. The students will learn how to develop the sense of rhythm, maximum psychomotor coordination and precision in young children.
Course Content (Syllabus)
The student will learn the handling the hoop which requires frequent changes of grip and movement coordination. The student will learn how to perform and teach rolls, passages, rotations, and walkovers. The student will learn how to use the clubs to execute mills, rolls, twists, throws and asymetric figures. Exercises with the clubs require a highly developed sense of rhythm, maximum psychomotor coordination and precision up to watchmaking standards. The student will learn the ribbon's function, create designs in space, learn how to teach the basic shapes and figures of many different sizes at varying rhythms. Snakes, spirals and throws are the essentials of the ribbon's flight. At the end of the course, the student will present a choreography using one apparatus and will learn how to prepare a small choreography for elementary school students using two apparatus.
