Course Content (Syllabus)
The course examines the historical, philosophical, social, and cultural context in which theatre takes place. It will be based on close readings of Brecht’s theory of drama, the Poetics of Aristotle, the Antigone of Sophocles and the Antigone of Brecht. The aim of this course is to introduce students to the main theoretical approaches to theatre and to examine how the phenomenon has been perceived from classical antiquity to the present.
