Course Content (Syllabus)
The most important music education theories from the beginning of the 20th century till now are visited at a theoretical and practical level. Their relationship to pedagogy as well as the influences of Contemporary music to the various music education systems is understood. The course deals with international research findings and innovative applications in the area of music pedagogy in preschool education. Special focus is given on children’s musical communication and the nature of the music they create as well as the particular place that teacher can hold in classroom musical activities.

Description
The students are assessed with a) written exam on the theoretical part of the course b) oral examination pertaining group presentation of activities related to the music educational theories covered in the course. An accompanying short written assignment supports theoretically the relationship between the activities presented and the music education theories.
