Course Content (Syllabus)
This course presents the development of the museum institution internationally and in Greece, the history of the educational role of the museum and the variety of contemporary museums.
In the museological discussion today the word “museum” also describes several sites of cultural heritage and exhibitions of material culture. The course examines the relationship between museums and visitors and especially the young ones as well as the relationship between museums and schools. It also studies the aims and methods of the educational use of museums by teachers and, especially, by the teachers of pre-school education and the ways of incorporating the museum education methods in their teaching. The students study selected examples of museum educational activities, visit museums and participate in exercises.

Student Assessment
Description
During the semester the students participate in exercises carried out in the classroom and visits at the museums. They also have to participate in an educational program in a museum of Thessaloniki and write a report about it.
