They can:
-describe a narural geologigal section or a drilling and to divide it in units according to the lithology
-date the beds with the included fossils and divide them in biozones
-correlate the various sections of a small or wider area
-give the synoptic stratigraphic column of the area
-conclude the geological history and evolution of the area
-know the evolution of the earth from its birth till now
-know the palaeogeographic evolution of the earth
-know the organisms lived in each geological period
-know the various geological events of each geological period
-know the climatic conditions of the verious periods

Chronostratigraphy. Geochronology. Stratigraphic Correlation. Phases. Study of all geological periods. (palaeogeography, palaeontology, palaeobiogeography, tectonic events, palaeoclimatology).
