Learning Outcomes
After the successful attend of the courses, students would be able to interpret the mineralizing processes in the ore deposits formation and identify the most common ore minerals under the microscope.

Course Content (Syllabus)
General principles. Processes of formation of mineral deposits. Magma and mineral deposits. Magma and mineralizing fluids. Deposits related with ultrabasic rocks. Pegmatites. Contact metasomatism. Hydrothermal processes. Hydrothermal alteration. Porphyry copper deposits. Volcanogenic massive sulfide (VMS) deposits. Submarine exhalative and volcanogenic processes. Weathering. Lateritic residual process (laterites, bauxites). Oxidation and supergene sulfide enrichment. Sedimentary deposits. Metamorphosed and metamorphic deposits. Classification of mineral deposits. Morphology of ore-bodies. Ore textures and structures.
