Learning Outcomes
Understanding of the design methodologies for integrated circuits, familiarity with specific constraints and layout design problems as well as with the special software tools for this purpose.
Course Content (Syllabus)
MOS Transistor: Theory and fabrication technologies. Standards, performance evaluation and CMOS circuit simulation. Logic design and physical design (layout). Design Optimization. Test methods for VLSI circuits. Design of basic subsystems. Case studies. Software for analysis and design of integrated circuits. The course includes compulsory presentation on issues related to recent developments in the design of integrated circuits and presented by the students in groups of two (usually) people, as well as physical design of an integrated circuit using CADENCE software. The participation in all of the presentations is compulsory for everyone.
