Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, students will: -know the key application areas of biomedical technology -have basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology of the human musculoskeletal system -know the effects of mechanical loading on musculoskeletal tissues -know the mechanical factors influencing human movement -know how to apply the principles of engineering to biological tissues.

Course Content (Syllabus)
Geometry of human body. Head. Spine. Upper and lower limbs. Bones and musculoskeletal system. Joints and muscles. Anatomical details. Main mechanisms of the human body. Gestures and movements of the human body. Kinematics joints. Kinetics of individual components. Simulating the kinematic and dynamic analysis of the human upper and lower end. Mechanical properties. Determination of the mechanical properties of the elements of the human body. Introduction to mechanics of deformable body. Stresses and strains. Simulation of the stresses of the human body using the finite element method. Simulation of the spine with the finite element method. Artificial materials and instruments. Medical engineering constructions. Machinery illustration and biomedical equipment.
