Cognitive Psychology: From Laboratory to Real-world (10 ECTS) Taught by: E. Masoura, D. Xanthopoulou and invited speakers The Applications of Cognitive Psychology section focuses on theories of cognitive psychology and their application in everyday life.
Learning Outcomes
The main aim of the module is to enhance understanding of the possible applications of cognitive psychology in everyday problems and situations. Secondary goals: • Understanding of the theories and the methods of cognitive psychology as it applies to a wide range of scientific fields. • Critical analysis of empirical data that led cognitive psychology to become a discipline with a wide range of applications.

Course Content (Syllabus)
This course focuses on theories of cognitive psychology and their application to everyday life such as work, leisure, interpersonal relations, new technologies, etc. Emphasis is placed on empirical data exploited outside the lab in real life and the transfer of research knowledge into practice is explored. The aim of the module is to provide students with the necessary theoretical knowledge about the role of cognitive functions in everyday life.

20% of the final mark corresponds to students' class participation 80% of the final mark corresponds to a research proposal regarding the application of theories and principles of cognitive psychology in examining an everyday life phenomenon.
