Learning Outcomes
Get to know the basic principles of veterinary and environmental toxicology (toxicity, toxicokinetics and biochemical action of poisons). To know the acute and chronic effects of various types of toxins (e.g., toxic plants, pesticides, pharmaceuticals, minerals, and industrial pollutants) according to the typical routes of exposure. To recognize the clinical state of the animals and to make differential diagnosis, distinguishing from infectious diseases, in order to apply the appropriate treatment. Be able to protect animals and humans from poisoning. Get acquainted with laboratory instruments, procedures and experimental methods used to identify and quantify the toxic substances in suitable samples.
General Competences
  • Apply knowledge in practice
  • Retrieve, analyse and synthesise data and information, with the use of necessary technologies
  • Make decisions
  • Work autonomously
  • Work in teams
  • Work in an interdisciplinary team
  • Respect natural environment
