Course Content (Syllabus)
The course focuses on the ambiguities and contradictions about general and special education. It continues with: interpretative approaches to disability, the normalization process, the socio-political model, symbolic interaction in the construction of disability; disability as a component of social identity-the stigma of disability. The course also traces the major milestones in the development of various approaches to the management of school behavior and to the transition from integration to inclusion. It also makes reference to diversity within multicultural societies, to vulnerable social groups and to the effort towards a school for all.
