Course Content (Syllabus)
Solid State Physics from metals to semiconductors, electronic structure and phonons (free and almost free electron, Bloch theorem and energy films, lattice oscillations, flexible waves, monatomic and diatomic chains). Science of materials and circle of materials, classification of materials, production - structure - properties and use of materials. Crystal and amorphous materials (quenching to the solid state, production of amorphous materials, structure and stability, geometry and chemistry of small scale order). Thermodynamics of materials (Chemical reactions, phase diagrams, structure and composition of phases). Kinetics, diffusion phenomena and phase transformations (Macroscopic phenomena of diffusion and law of Fick, microscopic phenomena, nucleation and growth of materials).
