Course Content (Syllabus)
Elements of cartography, map projections, datums in Greece and wordwide. Databases. Definition, basic structure, function and purpose of a GIS. Data processing and management. Spatial analysis in 2-D and 3-D. Multi-temporal analysis. GIS extensions. GIS output. Synergy of GIS with Earth observation data, Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) and in-situ measurements. Overview of GIS applications. Applications in Geoscience, with emphasis on topics of geological interest. Computer practicals on various GIS software.
