After the successful completion the students should 1) Know how to "read" Bouguer and magnetic maps. 2) Conduct gravity and magnetic surveys 3) Construct Bouguer and magnetic maps. 4) Perform processing on potential field’s data. 5) Interpret potential field’s data

Course Content (Syllabus)
Introduction to complex functions, Theory of fields, the magnetic field and magnetization of materials, the Bouguer anomaly, transformations of potential fields, interpretation of magnetic and gravity filed anomalies, automatic interpretation methods, examples of gravity and magnetic surveys, demonstration of gravity meters (inside the School) and magnetometers (either along with the undergraduate field exercise or in any survey that the department has undertaken during the semester), Laboratory Exercises: Diurnal correction of magnetic field readings, interpretation of magnetic anomalies in 2 dimensions, use of Potential Fields program suit of United States Geological Survey, mapping software.
