Learning Outcomes
Students are expected to understand the relationship between political action and public schools. Also they are expected to connect theory and action with the analysis of political behavior in schools and the relation of these behaviors with contemporary reality (e.g. school sit-ins). They will acknowledge student political action and signs of political disobedience.

Course Content (Syllabus)
The material of the subject is structured into 3 different sections: 1. The first section will refer to basic sociological notions such as the socialization and politicization of young peple and the relationship of secondary socializing carrier in the above processes. 2. The second section will refer to ways of student political action in public schools. Student councils will be discussed. Also civic education and the way it is taught in all levels of the educational system will be discussed. 3. Finally, students unconventional political demonstration will be a central issue of this subject. The social phenomenon of school sit-ins will be presented and it will be connected with civil disobedience as it was expressed in every phase of human history.
