Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of the course, students will: - have a deep knowledge of the methodological principles for writing a diploma thesis - be aware of the computer software for exerpting and the e-tools for citation writing - have a good knowledge of the instrumenta studiorum in Patristics, Hagiography, Old and New Testament - be able to use the theological bibliographic databases

1. Steps for writing a research paper I: Selection of title – objectives of a diploma thesis 2. Steps for writing a research paper II: Search for the main and secondary bibliography 3. Steps for writing a research paper ΙΙΙ: Content and limitations of a diploma thesis 4. Steps for writing a research paper ΙV: Excerpting – Division of material into chapters - units according to topic – Introduction to computer software for excerpting and organisation of the structure of the research paper (MindMeister, OneNote) 5. Steps for writing a research paper V: Arrangement of the structure of a diploma thesis 6. Steps for writing a research paper VI: Assessment of sources and secondary bibliography 7. Bibliographic citations. The technique and function of footnotes – Introduction to the e-tools for citation writing (Zotero, Mendeley) 8. Instrumenta Studiorum in Patristics and Hagiography Ι: Keys and Dictionaries 9. Instrumenta Studiorum in Patristics and Hagiography ΙΙ: Series – Critical editions of texts 10. Instrumenta Studiorum in the study of the Old Testament: a) Dictionaries, b) Editions of the Old and New Testament, c) Ancient sources (texts, inscriptions, lists of monuments), d) ancient commentaries, e) new series of hermeneutic commentaries 11.
