Course Content (Syllabus)
The course refers to the Mystery of Repentance. The History and the development of the Mystery through years. The conceptual approach to terms like sin, repentance, guilt, repulsion, sensitive consciousness, reconciliation, redemption, upbraid, akriveia-oikonomia). The levels of repentance. The Spiritual Father (special qualifications, establisment, option). The spiritual father and the person who makes a confession 1) Introduction into the contents and scope of the course. 2) The history and development of the sacrament. Bibliographical survey. 3) Semantic approach to terms (sin, confession, guilt, repression, sensitive consious, reconciliation, redemption, penance, akriveia/oikonomia). 4) The spiritual father. On fatherhood, the biological-spiritual father, consecration, selection. 5) Special presuppositions concerning spiritual fatherhood. 6) Consecration and selection of a spiritual father. 7) The spiritual father and the sacrament of confession. 8) The spiritual father and penances. 9) Canons and repentance. Akriveia and economy. 10) The confessant during the sacrament of confession. 11) The pastoral dialogue. Stages and principles. 12) Psychoanalysis and the sacrament of repentance. 13) The spiritual father and dealing with people who have psychological disorders.
