Learning Outcomes
Assuming known the operation principle , the students should be able to design a functional, easy to manufacture machine.
They should also be able to identify the critical spots and the modes of failure that could occur. It is important to shape and choose the dimensions adequately. Finally, the students should be able to calculate the safety factor and evaluate its magnitude.
Course Content (Syllabus)
Lubricants and lubrication. Seals. Plain journal bearings. Clutches. Design and analysis of belt drives, gears and gearboxes. Design of complex machines.
