Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students should be aware of:
Τhe αdjustment of various body systems to exercise
The effect of exercise on the physiology and biochemistry of systems
The effect of Doping and obesity on exercise
The benefits of exercise in old age
Course Content (Syllabus)
Provide an overview of the main areas of exercise physiology focusing on the understanding the way in which the body’s systems respond and adapt to exercise and training. Special emphasis is given to acute and chronic adaptations to exercise and training of the cardiovascular, muscular and pulmonary systems and consider how each system contributes to limitations of human performance. It is also explored how the immune and endocrine systems integrate the response to exercise. Finally, issues such as doping, screening test, RIA, Spot test, GLC, HPLC, GC/MS and the effect of obesity in the human health are discussed
