Course Content (Syllabus)
This course is an introduction to Sociology, Sociological Research and the Sociology of Education in particular. It refers to the genesis of sociology, classical sociological theories, research methodology, the developments in modern societies. More specifically, the following are analyzed: Introduction to the concept of science. Analysis of the basic concepts-functions of social life. Interpretation of social behavior and action, history and classics of the sociology, Origins, evolution, cooperation of social institutions. Methods and principles of sociological research. In addition, the main aspects of the Sociology of Education are examined, which contain the classical and modern manifestations of the Social Theory for educational reality in both its institutional and interactive dimensions. More specifically, the basic theoretical approaches to the development and structure of Educational Systems, their functional role and their relationship with other institutions such as religion are presented. There are even more specific approaches to educational reality, such as social interaction in the classroom and at school, the fight against social exclusion and student outreach, social relations in school, cultural pluralism, religious identity and other social issues with particular focus. in the social context of the Religious Studies Course in Greece.
