Learning Outcomes
The students could be able to:
-understand the relationship between Christianity, society and culture, in the past as well as in the present time
-study and research the relationship between Christianity and the Churches in the premodern, as well as in the modern societies using methods of sociological research, analysis and interpretation.
- be familiar of the social teachings and conceptions expressed by the Churches, at local as well as Ecumenical level, with particular emphasis on the study of the Orthodox Church
- to understand the conditions under which Christian teachings and conceptions could have an impact on the social, political, economic and cultural spheres.

Course Content (Syllabus)
This course is designed to introduce students to the core topics of the Sociology of Christianity, especially focusing on the relation between Christianity and Culture. During this course connections between the Society and Christianity, Christianity and social change, secularization, private and public sphere, social justice and structures of power, Christianity and social institutions, and ecological debates will be analysed and critically examined.
