Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course students are expected: to know the basic characteristics of modern culture, to analyze the modern reality using either the knowledge they have acquired so far or those who can draw from the literature, to critically understand the relationship between religion and culture, to apply the relevant knowledge both in their lives as well as in their professional employment.

Course Content (Syllabus)
The course deals with issues related either directly or indirectly to religion, cultural pluralism and religious freedom. More specifically, : Α´. Culture and civilization, conditions for the genesis of modern culture, basic characteristics and social sections of modern, postmodern and postmodernism, globalization and later modernity, globalization and local cultures. Peace, human development and overcoming Violence, Bioethics and Biodiversity in a multicultural society. Art and ecclesiastical community. Β´. Multiculturalism as a social event and social demand, cultural distinctions, S. Huntigton's theory of the clash of cultures, religious fundamentalism, cultural pluralism and respect for the other, religious freedom and democracy.
